Months before choosing Ψυγεία Ο Ψηλορείτης for the third edition of Supersport, I was invited to make an installation in a gallery in the city centre. Eventually, the date for Supersport #03 was set for five days before the opening of the exhibition at [SiC], the gallery. These circumstances led me to make two versions of the same piece, using material I found in the abandoned factory, in two spaces that functioned in opposite ways within the urban and social life of the city, as a single project.

The way the piece worked, however, was the same in both cases: it could only be seen as finished for one day. During the three weeks of the exhibition, I developed and built the second version in public, and a finissage took place on the last day.

As with Supersport, there was no sign with my name or the title of the piece in the gallery, nor any wall text explaining what was happening there.

During those days, I invited several sound artists who had participated in the previous event to interact with the piece.

Thanks to Karl Heinz Jerom, Jan Matiz’ Χρώματα, Dave de Rose and Giorgos Papadopoulos.

XING PI an installation and performance As sun sets, a prison-like room I am allocated to, is aglow in growing darkness: pieces of tinsel paper, (I brought with me) scratched, folded and un-folded and a lamp – improvised from a water bottle – irradiates light in a rhythmic circulation which I accompany with an aural…
